Ellison aide Brian Elliott named state SEIU director

Brian Elliott, a veteran aide to Congressman Keith Ellison, has been named the new executive director of the Service Employees International Union’s Minnesota State Council.

Elliott has been Ellison’s district director since the congressman was sworn in in 2007. Before that, Elliott had been the Minnesota political director and associate national political director for Clean Water Action.

SEIU represents about 30,000 workers in Minnesota, including 6,000 office building and window cleaners, private security officers; 400 building maintenance workers in the Minneapolis Public Schools; 17,000 hospital, clinic, nursing home and home care workers and 8,000 public school paraprofessionals, office clerical staff, bus drivers, custodians, and school food service workers.
