Continued predictions of floods throughout the region have put state and local officials on high alert, and Gov. Mark Dayton is out in the field today discussing preparations and response.

He was in Jordan this morning and headed to Montevideo after lunch, accompanied by Adjutant General Rick Nash of the Minnesota National Guard, Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman, Department of Public Safety Commissioner Mona Dohman, plus Kris Eide, executive director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and a representative from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson was scheduled to be at the Montevideo stop.

Also in on the planning in Jordan were state Sen. Claire Robling, state Rep. Joe Hoppe, Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson, and Savage Mayor Janet Williams.

In Montevideo, those scheduled were Swift County Sheriff John Holtz, Chippewa County Commissioner Dennis L. Anderson, Clara City Mayor Mike Thein, Maynard Mayor Richard Groothuis and Marshall Mayor Richard Byrnes.
