Congressman Chip Cravaack will open his district office in Brainerd’s City Hall next week and Morrison County Republican Party Chairman Perry Nouis will be the office manager there as well as district press secretary, the Brainerd Dispatch says.

Nouis lives in Little Falls and will step down from his party post, after just being elected to a third term.

Cravaack will be at a grand opening of the Brainerd office from 1 to 3 p.m. May 16.

Longtime Congressman Jim Oberstar — who lost to Cravaack in November — had operated a district office in the Brainerd City Hall since 1983, when redistricting moved Brainerd into the 8th Congressional District. Ken Hasskamp ran the Brainerd office for Oberstar all those years.
