Tina Fey disses Sen. Al Franken in Philadelphia

A gossip item in the Philadelphia paper — thanks for the spotting it, Blois Olson — mentions that Tina Fey told a story about Sen. Al Franken while she was there promoting her new book.

The “30 Rock” star said her former “Saturday Night Live” colleague Franken kept asking her for money while he was running for Senate in 2008, but she kept ducking him.

The item says that after he’d won the recount, she texted him:

“See, you didn’t need my $4,000 to win after all.”

Franken, she said, texted back  a blunt, two-word message, but he now says that the whole affair was just playful banter.

OK…a long campaign and recount is stressful and he may have been rude…T.Fey didn’t need to say anything…bad Tina!

That says a lot about both participants.

Joe, Herb, Tim, allow me to point out the obvious. If you’re going to label something a “gossip item”, there’s a presumption of falsehood.
