Two former legislators among 21 seeking White Bear Township board post

Former state Sens.

Former state Sens. Kevin Chandler and Fritz Knaak are among 21 citizens who applied to serve a 10-month term on the White Bear Township town board.

Also seeking the job is Jamie Ogden, a noted area high school athlete who played in the Twins minor league system.

The position came open after Board Member Dick Sand was forced to resign following his guilty plea to federal charges of mortgage fraud and money laundering.

A committee of three — board members Bob Kermes and Bill Mample, and Town Clerk Bill Short — will interview the candidates and fill the seat by May 16, says the White Bear Press. The person selected will serve until the next township election in March 2012.
