State Sen. Joe Gimse of Willmar and state Rep. Mike Beard of Shakopee, the Republican chairs of the two legislative transportation committees, are trying to convince voters that Gov. Mark Dayton made a mistake by vetoing the Republican transportation finance bill.

Today they’re in Rochester and Owatonna, as part of a state-wide tour.

On the tour, they’re visiting state Transportation district offices and construction sites.

They say they’re “promoting a dedicated funding-only bill that would appropriate approximately $4.5 billion of non-General Fund dollars to keep many of Minnesota’s road construction and infrastructure projects under way during a potential government shutdown.”
