U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum is in Israel with a congressional delegation, as part of a Middle East tour, but the group won’t get to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Israeli media reported that his government turned down a request to meet the American visitors.
MPR confirmed the incident.
The congressional trip is sponsored by a Jewish group that has been extremely critical of Netanyahu’s policies, and apparently the prime minister routinely refuses to meet with U.S. lawmakers on J Street trips.
