Gov. Mark Dayton won’t go to China this summer, apparently because of the shutdown, but he has scheduled a trip to Japan and Korea in the fall, reports the Fargo Forum.
Dayton told the paper that he will speak to a major international economic development conference in late September in Japan. The conference will be held in Minnesota in 2012, and the host of the next event traditionally speaks at the annual conference.
“I am going to combine that with a couple of days talking with some Japanese companies,” he said. And he’ll visit South Korea , too, for some economic development efforts in the week-long trip, which won’t be as big a deal as a full-blown trade mission.
Dayton had announced in February that he would lead a trade delegation to China in August; although it’s been canceled, he said he’d like to rescheduled it.
