Governor’s Residence tours resume in August

After being closed to the public in July because of the state shutdown, the Minnesota Governor’s Residence on Summit Avenue in St. Paul will resume tours in August.

The self-guided tours will be Aug. 2 and 16, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The residence is usually open for the tours two days a month during the summer, but the July dates were scrubbed when many state services were shut down during the budget battle.

The tours cover public places on the first floor of the mansion, and the gardens; docents from the Women’s Auxiliary of the Minnesota Historical Society are  available to answer questions about the home’s history and master gardeners from the University of Minnesota are present during summer tours to answer gardening and landscaping questions.
