Rochester’s Mayo Clinic gets a very, very fine bill of health in the latest U.S. News rating of hospitals around the country.
Mayo is one of only 17 out of 5,000 hospitals to make the magazine’s honor roll, which the magazine says is “reserved for medical centers that demonstrate unusually high expertise across multiple specialties, scoring at or near the top in at least six of 16 specialties.”
Mayo is in the top tier in 15 of the 16 different specialties.
Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore was at the top of the honor roll, with 30 points; Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston was second with 29 points and Mayo was third with 28.

It is also accredited by the Joint Commission (JC), the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and the American Osteopathic Association.
