Mark Dayton will hold the state’s first Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener in Montevideo on Oct. 14 and 15. Dayton said he’s been a pheasant hunter for “over half a century.” He’s 64.

He’s hoping to make it an annual event, like the Governor’s Fishing and Deer Hunting Openers. (Has Dennis Anderson joined the governor’s circle of advisers?)

The goal is to boost tourism and hunting in the state, and it’s coordinated by the Montevideo Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Explore Minnesota Tourism.

The governor’s office says about 400,000 pheasants are ” harvested” (that is, shot out of the sky) each year.

  2. 31: “Wake up DFL, drop your gun control human hating sisters and move on with life.”…. It’s so cool when people who want to be deemed reasonable write stuff like this down.
