Despite the stormy weather, today’s 5 p.m. event for the survivors of the 2007 Interstate 35 bridge collapse in Minneapolis is scheduled to continue. Gov. Mark Dayton is expected to appear.

Afternoon storms causes scattered flooding around the metro area. Flooding on Interstate 94 at Broadway Avenue in Minneapolis, for example, completely blocked traffic but was beginning to recede Monday afternoon, allowing three lanes of traffic to open again.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, there also were trouble spots along Highway 280 at both Broadway and Roselawn.

Storms and torrential rains prompted severe weather alerts for about 60 Minnesota counties and flooding alerts for 12 counties.

It’s unclear how many crashes have occurred as a result of the storms.
