The ARC says it’s working hard to help those starving in Somalia:

  • We’ve distributed food, tarps for shelter, water containers, cooking pots and other necessities.
  • We’ve provided government agencies with technical support in dealing with the influx of people fleeing famine-affected areas, and established a registration system for the Badbaado Camp, home to 30,000 people.
  • We’ve constructed a water system in Rajo Camp to provide clean drinking water to serve 50,000 people, and together with ARAHA, are building latrines, washing facilities and kitchens there.
  • One of our volunteer doctors is helping at Benadir Children’s Hospital to ensure the hospital has adequate supplies, staff, equipment and medicine. So far, we’ve provided 100 hospital beds, 300 mosquito nets, clothes for 300 children, four computers for medical staff and other items.
