Gov. Dayton visits FarmFest today; U President Kaler attends Wednesday

Gov. Mark Dayton is attending the annual FarmFest in Redwood County, billed as “THE Largest Outdoor Agricultural Event in Minnesota.” (The State Fair’s got to be bigger, but has lots of indoor events, and corn dogs must not count as ag.)

Dayton will speak before a forum discussion this morning on “Designing the next farm bill — Shaping the Future of Rural America.” Then he and Ag Commissioner Dave Frederickson will tour the grounds.

Eric Kaler, the new president of the University of Minnesota, will be at FarmFest Wednesday, attending the Minnesota Farm Bureau’s annual breakfast at 8 a.m. He’ll speak in the Forum Tent at 10:15 a.m. and tour the grounds. He’s in the area for a southwestern Minnesota tour that includes stops in Marshall and Worthington and the university’s Southwest Research and Outreach Center in Lamberton.
