This is the last day for candidates to file to run in the two special legislative elections in Minnesota.

According to the Secretary of State’s office, six candidates have filed so far in Senate District 46 for the seat vacated when Linda Scheid died, and five in Senate District 61 to replace Linda Berglin, who is retiring.

Those filing so far are:

Senate District 46:

  • Republicans Richard Taylor, Robert Marvin and Ryan Sibinski
  • DFLers Chris Eaton and Timothy A. Davis Sr.
  • Independence Party, Tom Reynolds 

Senate District 61:

  • DFLers Jeff Hayden, Sadik Warfa, Kristian Heuer and Elsa Batica
  • Republican Bruce A. Lundeen

 A primary will be held Sept. 13, and the special general election is Oct. 18.
