State could see $2 million windfall from storm damage

A July 1 windstorm knocked down thousands of trees in St. Croix State Park and closed the park for an extended time, but sales of the downed timber could bring in about $2 million for the state, KSTP reports.

The park could be closed for months because trails, roads and campsites are covered with fallen trees, the story says.

But they’re working hard to clean up the park:

“It can be, but you know we got a good team out here, it keeps our spirit up. and there’s a lot of work to do, and as long as we keep going we’ll get her done,” said forestry expert Dean Krause, who is working to clear trails.
