It seems like he’s been around forever, with all the parade appearances and interviews, but new University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler still hasn’t been officially inaugurated yet.

That comes Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. in a big ceremony at the Ted Mann Concert Hall.

Up to 1,000 dignitaries and visitors are expected to watch Kaler become the U’s 16th president in a formal event that includes a faculty procession into the hall, the investiture and the presentation of the mace and medallion to Kaler by Gov. Mark Dayton and U of M Board of Regents Chair Linda Cohen.

Then Kaler will give his inaugural address to close the ceremony.

There’s a week-long schedule of events surrounding the inaugural ceremony, including the Sept. 23 unveiling of his official presidential portrait and a Saturday football game versus the North Dakota State Bison.
