It’s way to early for the kids to pray for “snow days,” but today is a “heat day” at Hennepin County’s Ridgedale Library and Service Center because of the expected heat wave and a breakdown of the air conditioning system.

Also closed for the day is the 4th Judicial District Court.

A statement from the county:

“The decision was made to close the facility due to the air conditioning not working. Thursday’s weather forecast calls for extremely hot and humid conditions.

“Hennepin County Property Services is working on the problem until it is fixed and the building can be reopened.”

Employees were warned last night about the closing and had the option to take a vacation day, but most chose to work today in other locations, officials said.
