A group of state senators will tour the Veterans Home in Minneapolis Thursday on what they say is a mission to “seek ways to enhance the facility operations and better serve Minnesota’s veterans.”
Sen. Mike Parry, a Republican from Waseca and chair of the Senate State Government Innovation and Veterans Committee, will lead the group to visit the facility, once called the Old Soldiers Home.
There are 300 residents in the home, which provides skilled nursing for those neediing Alzheimer’s/dementia care and domiciliary care.
The Minneapolis home is one of five Veterans Homes in the state. The Senate committee plans to visit the others, in Fergus Falls, Hastings, Luverne and Silver Bay, in the coming months.
