Hundreds of young union organizing types — in town for the Young Worker Summit hosted by the AFL-CIO — will march through downtown Minneapolis at 5 p.m. Friday to bring attention to their call for more jobs and a strong middle-class economy.
They’ll walk from the downtown Hilton to the Government Center Plaza light rail station.
Their message: “America Wants to Work.”
The group is here for meetings, speeches and seminars through Sunday, as part of the AFL-CIO’s outreach program to working people under the age of 35. They say the focus is on “the current economic crisis and pathways to building a just economy as well as the ongoing attacks on workers’ rights from state legislatures.”
