Rep. Kriesel says he’s not mad at Vikings’ Berrian for ‘Shut up n sit down’ tweet

State Rep.

State Rep. John Kriesel says he didn’t take offense at the insensitive tweet Sunday from Vikings receiver Bernard Berrian (even though it might have been the Vikings’ best offense of the day).

On his Facebook page today, Kriesel writes:

For the record, I am not upset at what Berrian said to me. I ripped on him, he ripped back at me. This is part of why Twitter is fun. I’m a big boy and I can handle it. I’m surprised at how widely covered it is in the news. It’s all good everybody!

Berrian, who’s caught two passes this year, has been hammered in the blogosphere for his tweet telling Kriesel during a Twitter exchange to “sit down n shut up.”

Kriesel is a Vikings stadium supporter in the Legislature and lost both his legs in a roadside bomb while serving in the military in Iraq.

Kriesel, who was following Berrian’s tweets after the Vikings fourth straight loss, tweeted:

“If you want to follow a hilarious twitter account, try @B_Twice (Bernard Berrian) who says that he’s open a lot and should get the ball more.”

Berrian followed with a tweet to Kriesel: “Anytime u wanna watch the film with me. Not just one game but all of them.”

And then he quickly tweeted again to Kriesel: “and if not sit down n shut up!!”

You gotta think Berrian didn’t know who Kriesel is — bet he does now — or he wouldn’t have made such a PR blunder as the Vikings work hard to get legislators to agree to taxpayer funding for a new stadium.
