Give to the Max Day off to good start, topping $4M by midmorning

Every local nonprofit we’ve ever given to — and many we haven’t — has sent emails the past few days reminding us about Give to the Max Day, where donations can be made online, and cash prizes will be awarded to those groups getting the most donations.

Many nonprofits also offer matching gifts, and there are extra hourly incentives, too.

Last year, the second year of Give to the Max Day, more than 42,000 individual donors contributed more than $10 million for Minnesota charities.

This year, as of 10:30 a.m., 14,500 people had contributed $4.1 million to 2,734 nonprofits.
