A few hours before DFL state Rep. Terry Morrow of St. Peter was scheduled to announce a plan for financing a Vikings stadium, the 2 p.m. press conference was canceled.
The Morrow plan was coming on the heels of a Vikings ad in the local papers Sunday calling for the stadium to be financed with the income tax of players and team employees, plus the sales tax revenue from items sold in the stadium. No mention, though, of how the state would replace the tax revenue it already gets from all those sources.
No reason for the Morrow cancellation was given, although Jeff Goldberg of Fox 9 News reported in a Tweet that:
DFL spokesperson says Rep. Morrow spoke w/ “stadium working group” & decided to keep working together instead of unveil stad bill on his own
The state Senate will hold the first of two public hearings on the stadium tomorrow.
