Gov. Dayton to meet with Crystal Sugar execs and locked-out workers

Gov. Mark Dayton will talk to executives of American Crystal Sugar Co. Saturday and also meet with union workers who’ve been locked out since August in a labor dispute.

The governor is going to the Crystal headquarters in Moorhead Saturday, at what his office said was the company’s invitation, news reports say. And then he’ll meet workers at a 2 p.m. meeting at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Late last month, Dayton called for new negotiations and asked company officials for a fair settlement.

Crystal Sugar President David Berg said Thursday that he anticipates an end to the lockout and a settlement with the workers, the Fargo Forum reports, but no word about when that might be, as the company tries to lower its labor costs.
