Pipeline protesters plan afternoon march to Klobuchar’s Minneapolis office

Groups opposed to the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline will march to Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s Minneapolis this afternoon, to urge her to oppose the pipeline plan.

Activists plan to meet at Gold Medal Park at 3:30 p.m. and march with signs to Klobuchar’s office at 1200 Washington Ave. S.

The Minnesota 350 climate change advocacy group is organizing the action, saying they are “fed up with corporate influence on this week’s House vote on Keystone XL Pipeline.”

Klobuchar’s office said she has not issued a statement on the pipeline; the activists say they’ll urge her staff to have her vocally reject the pipeline.

Brief update on the meeting with Amy Klobuchar. Over 80 people came to meet with Klobuchar’s staff. An impressive turn out that made a big difference. MN350 and fellow organizers were pleased with the outcome, and are happy to report that the senator’s chief of staff told us that Amy supports a full review of the pipeline. They also agreed to set up a meeting with our membership and the senator herself. We look forward to that!
