Protest against big banks set for Friday in Mineapolis

Protesters angry that some of the nation’s biggest banks are doling out big bonuses to executives but not doing enough to help struggling homeowners will gather Friday morning in Minneapolis.

The event, sponsored by TakeAction Minnesota, starts at 10 a.m. at the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis. They’ll then walk to Wells Fargo Bank, one of the banks that, along with Chase and Bank of America, organizers mention as paying outsized bonues.

Says the group’s call to action:

Massive bank bonuses are missed opportunities. They are student loans not made, start-ups not financed, and houses sitting empty.

Meet us at Government Plaza in Minneapolis for an action to tell Congress and the banks enough is enough — forgo your 2011 bonuses and put the money where it’s needed.
