St. Paul teachers’ union members planned to rally today at the school district headquarters, but canceled the event when a contract agreement was reached last night.

There are no details yet on the settlement, but the teachers had called the 3:30 p.m. picket rally to draw attention to the possibility of larger class sizes.

The agreement will be reviewed by the Board of Education and the Federation’s Executive Board, then go to union members for ratification.

There are more than 3,000 teachers in the district, and they’ve been negotiating the new contract since May.
