Lucas Nesse has been named legislative director for the state Senate Republican Caucus.
He replaces Kevin Matzek, who is now the caucus chief of staff.
Senate Majority Leader David Senjem said in a statement:
“Lucas has worked hard in the Legislature for many years and proved to be a great asset. His likable demeanor and organizational skills will be an excellent fit for the position.”
Nesse, who started at the Legislature as a committee page in the Minnesota House, had been a legislative assistant and assistant research director when the Republicans were the minority party. Most recently, he was committee administrator to the State Government Innovation and Veterans Committee.
