It’s a bit out of season, but the Minnesota State Fair gets some national attention starting this week in shows airing on the Travel Channel.
Crews for the shows spent several days at the 2011 fair, getting interviews and footage.
“State Fair Foods” includes such Minnesota goodies as Sweet Martha’s Cookies, hot dish on-a-stick, Nitro Ice Cream, alligator on-a-stick, chocolate-covered bacon, macaroni and cheese on-a-stick, sweet corn ice cream and salad on-a-stick. There are food highlights from other states’ fairs, too.
It’s scheduled to run 6 p.m. CST Wednesday and then at 1 a.m. CST on Thursday and again at 5 p.m. CST on Saturday, Jan. 28.
A second show, “State Fair Competitions,” includes Minnesota fair events like flat-picking guitar championships, llama costume contest, high school marching band competition, Princess Kay butter sculptures and IRONJACK Lumberjack Show.
It will air 4 p.m. CST Jan. 28.
