Marlene Johnson, who served as Minnesota’s lieutenant governor from 1983 to 1991 under Rudy Perpich, has endorsed former Congressman Rick Nolan’s bid to return to Congress.

Said Johnson in a statement: “When Gov. Perpich needed a real leader to transform his vision of a Minnesota World Trade Center into reality, he turned to Rick Nolan. Rick worked tirelessly with Rudy and me and with so many others to help generate new jobs and transform Minnesota into a leader in global export and trade. Now more than ever, we need his wisdom and courage back in Congress.”

Nolan was in Congress from 1975 to81; he previously served four years in the Minnesota Legislature.

Nolan is seeking the DFL endorsement to run against 8th District Republican Congressman Chip Cravaack. He’s competing for the endorsement with former state Sen. Tarryl Clark and Duluth City Council Member Jeff Anderson.
