Gov. Mark Dayton delivering his 2012 State of the State speech Wednesday night.

Of all the newspapers and online sites and television and radio stations around the globe,  only one outlet received mention in Gov. Mark Dayton’s State of the State speech Wednesday night.

In what many of us at MinnPost thought was the highlight of his speech, Dayton, while talking about the strength of the state’s economy compared with most states, made reference to, ahem,  MinnPost.

Said the governor: “MinnPost’s Louis Johnston attributes our success to high rates of labor force participation, especially by women; our greater investments in human capital, such as education and health care; and both public sector and private sector investments in physical capital.’’

  1. I heard that

I’m sure that highly impresses leftists, and I don’t begruge MinnPost it’s due; it was a mention in the state of the state after all. But in all honesty it was a leftist citing a leftist source to support a leftist argument.

When someone from the other side of the aisle gives you a shout out, you’ll have gained genuine credibility and can be said to be living up to the goals of Providing High Quality Journalism for *All* People That Care About Minnesota.

Think of my observation as a well intended nudge to move away from the partisanship that stifles a stand out publication.

    So that being said, congrats!
