Mayors of 15 Minnesota cities will serve on an advisory board to Gov. Mark Dayton, looking at tax reform ideas involving Local Government Aid, and how to provide local services while keeping property taxes down.
“The Legislature’s continuing cuts to LGA have increased the financial pressures on local governments throughout Minnesota. I look to this group of distinguished mayors to advise us on whether LGA should be revised, or simply funded,” Dayton said in a statement.
One co-chair of the group, R.T. Rybak of Minneapolis, is a DFLer; the other, Dave Kleis of St. Cloud, is Republican.
The other mayors on the Tax Reform Advisory Group for Local Government Aid are:
- Bruce Ahlgren, Cloquet
- Dave Bartholomay, Circle Pines
- Beth Baumann, South St. Paul
- ReNae Bowman, Crystal
- Ardell Brede, Rochester
- Chris Coleman, St. Paul
