The list of legislators who won’t be back next session, for a variety of reasons, keeps growing, with four more names added over the weekend.
Two DFL veterans state representatives, Nora Slawik of Maplewood and Denis Dittrich of Champlin, said they are retiring and won’t seek election.
Meanwhile, endorsing conventions in two House districts had to choose between incumbents who’d been redistricted together. In Minneapolis, DFLers endorsed five-term state Rep. Frank Hornstein over first-year Rep. Marion Greene, and Republican delegates in House District 5A picked freshman Rep. Glenn Gruenhagen, of Glencoe, over third-term Rep. Ron Shimanski of Silver Lake.
Rachel Stassen-Berger at the Star Tribune keeps a running tally of those who won’t be back. It’s grown to more than 30, out of the 201 state senators and representatives.
Voters will make the list even longer in November.
