State Senate and House to pause Wednesday for Kubly funeral

The recess will allow lawmakers to attend funeral services for state Sen. Gary Kubly in his hometown of Granite Falls.

The Minnesota Senate will take Wednesday off so members can attend the funeral service for state Sen. Gary Kubly. The service will be at 11 a.m. in his hometown of Granite Falls.

The state House, too, has canceled all morning and afternoon committee hearings Wednesday in Kubly’s honor.

Kubly died Friday after a battle with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. Despite the worsening of his symptoms, he came to the Capitol for this legislative session but was hospitalized last week and died soon after.

Senate officials canceled all Wednesday committees and the Wednesday floor session. Additional committee hearings may be added Thursday afternoon and evening.
