Hotel magnate Jim Graves to announce run for Congress against Bachmann

Jim Graves, CEO of  the Graves Hospitality hotel company, will announce today in St. Cloud that he’s running for Congress in the 6th District against Republican U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann.

Graves lives in the Twin Cities but grew up in St. Cloud. He’s the third DFLer to announce a run against Bachmann. Even though her home in Stillwater was redistricted into the 4th District, Bachmann plans to run again in the 6th.

The Graves 601 Hotel in downtown Minneapolis is the flagship of Graves’ company.

Graves will officially launch his campaign during a press conference at noon today at another of his company’s hotels:  Le St-Germain Suite Hotel in St. Cloud.

On his campaign web site, Graves says:

“Minnesota’s sixth district deserves a smart, compassionate, business-savvy congressperson who will fight full-time to create livable-wage jobs and strengthen the economy, ensuring a strong middle class and improving the lives of everyone.”

Also seeking the DFL endorsement in the race are  May Township businessman Brian McGoldrick and St. Cloud attorney Anne Nolan.
