Commissioner Reinhardt gets first spot in Ramsey County’s election filing line

She didn’t camp out overnight, like state Rep. Joyce Peppin did at the Capitol last night, but Ramsey County Commissioner Victoria Reinhardt was first in line at the Ramsey County offices this morning, check in hand, to file for another term.

Reinhardt, of White Bear Lake, arrived a few minutes before the doors opened at 8 a.m., putting her ahead of judges and other commissioners who wanted to get an early jump on filing season. Candidates can file for the November election until June 5.

Reinhardt said afterward that she’s hoping to make a point with the prompt filing: “That I’m eager to run and I love my job and I’m good at it.”

She’s completing her fourth term on the board — that’s 16 years — and is hoping to be re-elected to another four-year term.

She’s touting the county’s rare AAA bond rating and said she opposed putting a Vikings stadium in Arden Hills because it was putting county residents on the hook for paying for a state-wide asset.

Dennis Dunnigan, a real estate appraiser who lost to Reinhardt in 2008, is running again this year.
