Filings for elective office open today in Minnesota and run through June 5.
There are more than 1,000 federal, state and local positions up for election in November.
As usual, Rep. Joyce Peppin, a Republican from Rogers, was the first in line to pay her $100 filing fee when the Secretary of State’s office opened this morning. She had been waiting since 2 p.m. Monday, the Pioneer Press said, “with a folding lounge chair and a bag filled with law books — she’s enrolled in law school — an iPad and an iPhone.”
It was the fifth time she’s been first to file.
“I do it to show people that I’m still excited to be representing them in public office.”
And she told the Strib:
“It was better than tickets to Taylor Swift.”
