Dickhut was 23. He grew up in Stewartville, and graduated from high school there in 2007. He had been married last October.

He was serving with the 5-20 Army Infantry Regiment and attached to the 82nd Airborne Division when his unit came under small-arms fire in Zharay, Afghanistan.

Dayton’s office that that although he will be away from St. Paul briefly for the funeral, he’ll be in touch all day with legislators and staff as the legislative session nears a close with votes still needed on major legislation.
