Open house Monday night in Houlton, Wis., for St. Croix River bridge

Find out more Monday night at an open house in Houlton, Wis., about the $676 million bridge that will be built across the St. Croix River to replace the Stillwater Lift Bridge.

Officials from both the Minnesota and Wisconsin Departments of Transportation will be there to explain the bridge project and answer questions.

It’s at the Houlton Elementary School, 70 County E, Houlton, Wis., from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday night.

More open houses on the bridge are scheduled, too:

  • Stillwater, May 21, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Stillwater Area High School
  • Bayport, June 13, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Bayport Library

And I guess it’s a sign of the times that the bridge project has its own Facebook page.

    Outrageously expensive

Especially in view of the admittedly ugly 35W bridge. How does Bachmann justify this obsene cost? Less food stamp recipients?
