U.S. Rep. Erik Paulsen, who led a successful effort in the House to repeal the med-tech tax, will headline a dinner and discussion Friday on ways to help the medical technology industry grow in Minnesota.
One of those ways, he says, is the med-tax repeal, which still must be taken up by the Senate and faces a veto from President Obama because it would divert funding from proposed health insurance subsidies for low- and middle-income earners under his health reform plan.
Friday’s event, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Minneapolis Marriott Southwest in Minnetonka, is sponsored by the Freedom Foundation of Minnesota.
The event is free, but seating is limited and RSVPs are required by email to info@freedomfoundationofminnesota.com or by calling 612-354-2160.
Shaye Mandle, vice president of government relations for LifeScience Alley, will give an overview of Minnesota’s bio-medical industries before Paulsen speaks at 5 p.m.
