Gov. Mark Dayton is in Washington, D.C., today to get an award from the National Education Association for being “America’s Greatest Education Governor.”

The event is the NEA’s Annual Meeting and Representative Assembly, which runs through Thursday. Dayton gets the award this afternoon.

Dayton’s office says the news is embargoed until this afternoon, but news of the award is all over the NEA website. So we won’t know the group’s exact reasons for giving the award to Dayton until after the presentation.

Last year, Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear won the group’s greatest governor award.
