Mondale endorses Nolan in the 8th District DFL primary race

With less than a week to go in the contested DFL race to find a challenger for Congressman Chip Cravaack in the 8th District, former Vice President Walter Mondale has endorsed Rick Nolan.

Nolan, a congressman from a different district who served from 1975 to 1981, once worked as a staffer for Mondale.

But, the Star Tribune notes, Nolan actually supported Ted Kennedy’s run for president in 1980 over President Carter and Mondale.

Also running in the Tuesday primary are former state Sen. Tarryl Clark and Duluth Council Member Jeff Anderson.

In another high-profile endorsement, former President Bill Clinton is supporting Clark.
