Gov. Mark Dayton has ordered all state flags to fly at half-staff today to honor the fifth anniversary of the I-35W bridge collapse.

Thirteen people were killed and 145 injured when the bridge fell into the Mississippi River in Minneapolis on Aug. 1, 2007.

In a proclamation, Dayton said the state has set aside this day “to remember the victims; to offer continued sympathy and support to affected families and communities; and in further recognition and gratitude to police officers, fire and rescue personnel, and other first responders.”

The Minneapolis Star Tribune and the St. Paul Pioneer Press both did major stories about the survivors.
