Marriage amendment opponents air first TV ad, featuring Republican Catholic couple

The ad features a couple who discuss having a gay couple move into the neighborhood.

A new TV ad opposing the proposed marriage amendment will air on Twin Cities and Duluth television stations.

The ad, by Minnesotans United for All Families, features a couple from Savage who are Republican and Catholic.

They say they hadn’t thought much about same-sex marriage until a gay couple moved into the neighborhood. Now, they urge others to think more about the issue, then to vote no on the amendment.

This is the first TV ad by local opponents of the amendment. A national group, Freedom to Marry, began running ads on the issue last month.
