Marriage amendment forum Tuesday night in Maplewood

A forum on the marriage amendment will be held Tuesday night in Maplewood, with both sides of the issue represented.

The event, sponsored by the Maplewood Human Rights Commission, will include a discussion of the history and culture of marriage throughout history, along with the social, religious, economic and legal perspectives, organizers say.

The group says speakers will provide perspective, as well as advocate positions for and against the proposed marriage amendment, which, if passed, would put the state’s existing ban on gay marriage into the state Constitution.

The forum runs from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Maplewood Community Center, 2100 White Bear Ave.
