State Rep. John Kriesel, the Iraq war veteran from Cottage Grove who isn’t seeking re-election, has been more moderate than most state Republicans and recently made a commercial urging Minnesotans to vote against the marriage amendment.
That led to a Twitter exchange between Kriesel and Andy Parrish, the former Michele Bachmann aide who’s now deputy campaign manager for Minnesotans for Marriage, the group pushing passage of the marriage amendment that would put a ban on gay marriage into the state constitution.
The Twitter exchange, monitored by Blois Olson:
- PARRISH: “Republican” @johnkriesel endorsed DFL candidate @RepJohnWard over the GOP candidate, voted for the stadium & the bonding bill #RINO
- KRIESEL: @AndyParrishMN is tweeting negative stuff about me because he knows his marriage amendment is getting defeated on 11/6.
- PARRISH: @johnkriesel nope I tweeting things about you because you pretend to be a republican.
- KRIESEL: And you pretend to matter. RT@AndyParrishMN: @johnkriesel nope I tweeting things about you because you pretend to be a republican.
Parrish also had a less-civil Twitter exchange last week with Vikings punter Kris Kluwe, as chronicled by City Pages.
Parrish has since changed his Twitter avatar to a picture of Kluwe and sent a pre-game tweet to the punter (who uses the name ChrisWarcraft on Twitter) before Thursday’s game:
Andy Parrish@AndyParrishMN @ChrisWarcraft You’re a funny guy and a great punter – hope we can chat after the election. Good Luck tonight!
