Tiny Dawson, Minn., gets $1.2 million federal grant for meat plant expansion

Noah’s Ark meat processing company will keep 35 jobs and add up to 20 more.

State officials said today that Dawson, Minn. ( pop. 1,540) has received a $1.2 million federal grant to complete an industrial park expansion for the Noah’s Ark meat processing plant.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development said the meat company will keep at least 35 to 40 existing jobs at the plant and create at least 15 to 20 jobs.

The state also has contributed a $500,000 infrastructure grant for the project, to handle street improvements and add a pre-treatment wastewater facility to the industrial park.

Dawson, in Lac qui Parle county in western Minnesota, is adding $700,000 to the project.
