Veterans Day event features wounded military hockey players vs. NHL alum

A special Veterans Day event  Sunday at the Vadnais Sports Center will showcase members of the Minnesota Warriors hockey team skating with retired NHL players.

The Minnesota Warriors team is made up of wounded, injured and disabled military veterans who play hockey as part of their integration back into civilian life.

Some of the former NHL players scheduled to play are: Brian Bonin, Wes Walz, Brian Bellows, Dan Mandich, Antii Laaksonen, Brad Maxwell, Tom Younghans, Chris McAlpine, Steve Payne and Sean Toomey.

The game — where the two groups will join and play a split-squad game — is at 3:45 p.m at the Vadnais Sports Center in Vadnais Heights.
