State flags at half-staff to honor slain Cold Spring Officer Thomas Decker

Flags on state buildings in Minnesota flew at half-staff today to honor Cold Spring Police Officer Thomas Decker, who was killed in an ambush last week.

Gov. Mark Dayton attended Decker’s funeral today at St. John’s Abbey in Collegeville, where thousands of law enforcement officers were among the mourners.

Decker, 31, was shot Nov. 29 outside a bar in Cold Spring, while responding to a call to check on the welfare of a nearby resident. Police arrested a suspect in the case but then released the suspect without filing charges, citing insufficient evidence.

Decker, a six-year police veteran, was married and had four children.
