There’ll be no change in partisan numbers at the Legislature after Tuesday’s two special elections. Each party maintained the seat it won in November.

In House District 19A, DFLer Clark Johnson won, defeating Allen Quist, the former House member and recent congressional candidate. Independence Party candidate Gieseke was third. Johnson replaces DFLer Terry Morrow, who resigned to take a job in Chicago.

In House District 14A, Republican Tama Theis won, keepingt the seat for her party after Republican Steve Gottwalt resigned to take a lobbying job. DFLer Joanne Dorsher was second and Independence Party’s Todd McKee was a distant third.
